If you’re thinking about trying a Reformer Pilates class for the first time, you might be wondering:
What do I wear?
What do I bring?
I’ve never done it before so Is it okay for beginners?
The answer: Absolutely! Especially here at VYVE, where every class is instructor-led, beginner-friendly, and easily adjustable for all levels.
Whether you’re stepping onto a reformer for the first time or you’re a pilates pro looking to refine your practice, here’s everything you need to know before your first class.
What to Wear to a Reformer Pilates Class
Reformer Pilates involves a lot of movement, stretching, and transitions, so you’ll want clothing that supports that and essentially we just want you to feel comfortable
Form-fitting activewear
Its easier for our instructors to be able to see your hip movement and core engagement if you’re wearing more fitted gym clothing.
leggings or shorts and a fitted top.
Think: comfortable, stretchy, and supportive.
Grip socks
Here at VYVE we recommend or require grip socks for safety and hygiene.
The grips help you stay stable on the carriage—especially during lunges and planks.
If you don’t have any we have some sock options for sale !
Sports bra or supportive top
For women, a medium-support sports bra works well. For men, any fitted athletic top is perfect.
Tie up long hair
You’ll be moving in all directions, so keeping hair out of your face makes the workout smoother and safer.
What to Bring With You
You don’t need a lot to start your Reformer Pilates journey!
A water bottle
Bring you’re own bottle, and make sure you keep drinking, we have a tap in the studio to fill up and keep refreshed.
A towel
Not required at all!, but helpful if you tend to work up a sweat.
Your grip socks
If you don’t have any, we sell them in the studio.
An open mind
Reformer can feel new and unfamiliar at first, but that’s part of the fun! Every class gets more intuitive over time.
